Steps
Step 1: Duplicate the file just to be safe and use the copy for these steps. In case something goes wrong, you'll still have the original file.
Step 2: Right-click the .TMP file and click 'Rename'.
Step 3: Rename it and change the extension to '.wmv'.
Example:
Original File: Copy of WMT1.tmp
Renamed File: Copy of WMT1.wmv
Step 4: Right-click the renamed file and click 'Open With'.
Step 5: Choose 'Windows Live Movie Maker'.
Step 6: Wait for it to open the file and recover your project, and if it works, save the project immediately so you'll be safe this time.
